3 Wheeled Buggies
A 3-wheel buggy is perfect for off-road walking & taking on terrains, from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They are also easier to maneuver up and down kerbs in comparison to 4-wheel models.
MadeForMums reviews editor Kath tried one of these 3-wheelers with her newborn and 3 year old, and put it through its paces on asphalt and on the muddy ground. You can read her review here.
Stability
Four-wheel buggies, which have their centre of gravity balanced by your child's weight in the seat, are typically more stable than three-wheelers. But that doesn't mean an older model with three wheels isn't worth considering, as many of these models are made to cope with everything from rough terrain to busy high streets.
For a buggy that's really easy to handle and won't be a problem on bumpy pavements, look for a model with large rear wheels and a lockable front wheel. These all-terrain buggies typically have pneumatic tyres, too. They are great at handling non-paved surfaces and can even be used on sandy beaches or tracks in woodland.
They're also the best buggies to be jogging with, as they offer great stability on rough terrain and help you keep up with your jogging partner. They can also go up and down steep kerbs, and many of them come with a spring suspension that is built-in, so your baby will have a smooth ride.
The one thing that makes a pushchair with three wheels difficult to maneuver is the large frame, which can make it difficult to squeeze through tight spaces and narrow doors than a 4-wheeler. Some manufacturers have addressed this problem with clever design that flips the wheels upwards when they are not in use. This reduces their dimensions and makes it easier to fit through doorways.

If yes, make sure to check for a lie-flat location and also whether the design is compatible with second seating and buggy boards (if you want to add the toddler). Make sure that the buggy has an option to lie flat and if it is compatible with second seat and buggy boards if you plan to bring a toddler along. A majority of 3-wheelers can fold flat, and later be stacked upright. This is a great option if you only have a small boot space or a small amount of storage space at home. Some will require you to remove the front wheel when folding in order to fit into smaller space.
Manoeuvrability
Three-wheeled buggies are more maneuverable than four-wheeled strollers. A majority of them have a swivelling wheels on the front, which allows you to steer and change direction using one hand. Some also come with a lockable front wheels that can provide the stability you need on rough terrain. Some models can even be used with a second seat or buggy board if you're looking to expand your family.
If you plan to remove your three-wheeled buggies from the roads that are paved, you should choose one that has pneumatic tyres. They are able to handle the most difficult terrain. These tyres might need to be regularly pumped up from time time, but they will be more durable and puncture-proof than solid tyres. Look for a model with the ability to lock the swivelling wheel on the front to assist you in maneuvering difficult surfaces.
When folded, three-wheelers can be more bulky than four-wheeled buggies due to the single front wheel. Make sure the model you choose fits inside your car's boot and can be set up upright if needed. Some models fold with one hand, and can be rearranged when folded. This will save space in the boot of your car.
A quality three-wheel pushchair will be used on all terrains from busy streets to forest tracks. It's important to consider how you will use it every day. If you'll be running the school run with it, it must be able handle steep slopes and kerbs. If you intend to jog on it, ensure it has a swivelling'stretch front wheel' that is locked. This will help keep the ride in place.
MFM reviewer Kath discovered her three-wheeled buggy able to cope really well on both rural and urban walks. three wheel pushchair said that it navigated cobbles, rocky paths and uneven pavements with ease and felt pleasant to jog with too. It's also a great option for day trips as it comes with plenty of storage space, including a large ample basket with a zip-top cover and an expandable 50+ UV hood. It can also be modified for baby from birth with an adjustable seat that can be sat on or a carry cot, as well as being compatible with the majority of popular second-seats and buggy boards.
Fabric Sling Seat
The key difference between a fabric sling and modular seat is that the fabric sling fits comfortably inside the frame of the buggy instead of being positioned on top like a modular seat would. This makes it easier to maintain an ergonomically appropriate position for the baby, which results in a lower center of gravity, which is just the right height. This results in an easier push, a less hefty curb pop (you do not require much effort or weight to push the buggy over the curb's edge) and better stability and balance.
The sling fabrics that are used in these kinds of buggy seats are extremely durable and easy to clean. Made specifically for applications for sling chairs in mind they are durable and extremely breathable. These fabrics are also very easy to maintain using mild soap and warm water.
If you're a jogger, or are a fan of off-roading, an all terrain 3 wheeler is likely to be more suitable than a buggy with four wheels. These models have a larger base they are more stable and utilize air-filled tyres for smooth movement over rough terrain.

Modular Seat
Modular seating allows for many different configurations to suit different seating needs. Many modular seating systems come with removable cushions which makes it easy to clean up spills and stain.

3-wheel buggies are more stable than strollers with four wheels, which makes them ideal for off-road or all-terrain adventures. The huge, highly maneuverable front wheel allows for agile and smooth movement, whilst the tyres are generally air filled and have suspension, allowing for a smooth ride on even the roughest roads and trails. They are also ideal for walking up hills as the wheels aren't as close ground as they are on four wheel pushchairs.
Parents who love to run and jog with their kids usually opt for strollers with three wheels because they're more agile and sleeker than their 4-wheel counterparts. The GB Upp XL for example features a sleek, burnished silver aluminum frame, which has an easy fold that can be folded in one hand and forward and rear facing seats, while the Babyzen Yoyo has an all black frame, a carrycot that has a the ability to lie flat in full with air-filled tyres as well as 3 recline positions.
Another great all-terrain choice is the incredibly lightweight, highly manoeuvrable and stunningly elegant Mountain Buggy Sport verso. The buggy will last from birth, with a carrycot, and will last until toddlerhood with the modular seat. All this is within the footprint of a single buggy.
